Five Things I've Learned-For all you moms

1. It's not how high the fever is, it's how fast it goes up or comes down.

2. The thought of clearing secretions during a seizure is a moot point, the secretions will keep coming.

3. Febrile seizures do not cause brain damage.

4. Diastat, a rectal medication to stop seizure activity, should not be administered unless the seizure lasts 5 minutes or longer, but you can bet your ass I will be giving it if my kid is turning blue.

5. There is a huge amount of crying from an infant/toddler when they are hooking them up for an EEG.
