Ryan was born in December during a snow storm, which I thought made it all the more special. We went into the hospital the night before being induced because the doctor said my fluid was low and Ryan's head and belly were measuring small. They thought something was wrong and the neonatal intensive care team was at delivery. I birthed Ryan in just over 3 hours without an epidural. He weighed in at 7lbs. 7oz just like Kaylee. He had this cute little receding hairline that made him look like a little man. He was a good baby until the reflux settled in and he did end up admitted to the hospital in February for a fever. He got a spinal tap done and we were there for 2 days. It turned out to be nothing.
Ryan grew into a challenging toddler, so I thought at the time. I look back and he actually was easy. He crawled, walked, climbed too early for me and he always was getting into things. We actually waited to have Kara b/c we thought he was so bad. Now, we know what bad is (no offense Kara, Caden and Jillian). When Ryan was 18months old, he snuck out onto the back deck while I was brushing my teeth (God forbid you brush your teeth). At that time we didn't have a fenced in backyard, so he could have gone anywhere....luckily I saw the drapes blowing in the wind and knew that the door had been opened. Then came the panic. He was just standing at the bottom of the stairs to the deck and said "hi" when I found him.
He never liked cars and trucks and preferred to play tea party w/ Kaylee or push a stroller around with a baby. He is very sensitive nowadays but is more in touch with his "boy" side. He worries about things like death, and how people are feeling (most of the time, unless your name is Kara). He asked me all the time how I was feeling when I was pregnant with Caden and Jillian. He is very polite and not as shy as Kaylee is. He has very good phone manners saying "Hi, this is Ryan"! He is awesome at art and drawing and an above average reader. He will try anything once. He is very photogenic. He likes video games, webkinz, UNO, movies, playing online, reading, soccer, and swimming. He likes to build things, paint things, take things apart and can figure out anything to do with electronics before I can! He is a very funny kid that we love to laugh at/with. He makes funny expressions and says funny things. He is a very good friend to people and is respectful. He likes to cuddle. The only down side to Ryan is that he says Mom about 100-200 times a day depending on if I'm at work or not. He is pretty needy!
Physically, he is very skinny w/ abs and pecs of steel that I have no idea how he got or continues to maintain. He is a bottomless pit when it comes to eating.
When I watch him sleep sometimes, I can almost see him as a baby. I think it's easier to see the boys as babies than the girls. I also wonder what he will be like when he's older. I think he'll make some girl a great husband and father, just like his Dad!
