Summer
Wednesday was the last day of school for Kaylee and Ryan. I have dreaded it. You wouldn't think that adding the two older, more self-sufficient ones into your scheduled day would do that much more damage. But it does. Have you ever read that book "The Chocolate Touch" where the boy in it is afflicted with the condition that everything he touches turns into a chocolately confection? Well, everything MY kids touch turn to mess! If it doesn't turn to mess, it gets broken. So the first day they were all home together, Kaylee dropped a full family size bottle of windex all over the floor spilling almost all of it's contents, Kara got a sucker entangled in her hair (I had to pull it out, which brought with it half the hair she already doesn't have), and Caden needed a bath b/c of the poop I made him sit in. All this before 9 AM! To give you an idea of what I am dealing with, I can walk the fifteen steps from our living room into our kitchen, everything fine, come back the fifteen steps, fifteen seconds later and Jillian has all the baby wipes out of the container strewn across the floor, Caden is sitting contently on the couch with his underwear down playing with his penis while watching tv, and Kara has gotten into the bookshelf where I keep all the baby lotion, creams, etc. and put huge globs of them on her hands with nowhere to put it! Fifteen seconds? Yes! They are amazing little creatures! Now, I do have some fun things planned for them this summer, b/c they DO get awfully bored, but, needless to say, I had to come up with these rules for the older ones for the summer:
1. Chores will be done weekly.
2. If anyone says they're bored, they CLEAN something.
3. If there is any fighting whatsoever, the said fighting parties will have their snacks taken away.
4. If there is a second offense between offending fighter parties, they will go to bed early, as in, still light out early.
5. If clothes are left on the floor of ANY room, their comission aka "allowance", will be docked.
6. There will be reading everyday and writing occasionally.
I really wanted to be the fun mom, but it's just not working out that way...sorry kids.
