I can't believe Jilly's two already. It has flown by, but I must say it IS nice not to have a baby in the house. So, for the record, I officially feel done and am ready to concentrate on the kids I have!
So, this is a funny labor story, as I'm sure some of you remember. I'm a fast laborer, it's true. I had Kaylee in five hours, Ryan in two. So, toward the end of pregnancy, I'm usually ready. The weekend before Jillian was born, the census at the hospital was high, I remember. And to top it off, my doctor, my beloved Dr. Read, was NOT on call and it was someone else who I wouldn't let touch my cats, let alone my vagina or newborn baby! So, that whole weekend, I contracted like crazy and every time I would get up, it would get worse. I basically laid on the couch wishing it away until MY doctor was on call, which wasn't until Monday. Karen at work, who was there that weekend, had saved my favorite room, 304, for me. All weekend. She said she KNEW I'd be in soon. I made it the whole weekend, came in Monday early evening, after Ron get off work, in ACTUAL labor people. I was told that I was the only one in L&D NOT being induced! I got there and my doctor STILL wasn't on call....luckily, she had given me her private number and I had them call her...she came in just for me (I know, I'm lucky). So, I got to the hospital around 5:30 and Jilly was born at 8:02pm. She weighed 7lbs, the smallest of them all, was bald, and so sweet. My good friend Jill did her first bath, as I hobbled down to the nursery with one leg still heavy from the epidural. My favorite memory of being in the hospital with her was when Lisa and Jill brought her in dressed in a skirt they had made from a baby tshirt and bonnet someone had made for me, and written on her tshirt "Rhonda Roberta"....b/c they thought she looked like Ron! Always good times when you have a baby at your workplace!
To the littlest Leck, I say, Happy Birthday, Jilly. You've taken on the baby-in-the- family role nicely!
