Kaylee

Kaylee has had an eventful week. She turned 9 on the 21st and I can't believe it's her last year in single digits. We went to the skating rink for her birthday party w/ school friends and she was having so much fun. She hangs with a good group of girls and they were all very well behaved. On her actual birthday we went to Red Robin where she and Ryan got their very own booth (b/c they couldn't fit all of us into one!). I think she felt grown up, having the waiter attend to their needs separate from our table. Then we went back home to a waiting Beth and Jillybean (no, we didn't want to take screamin' Jillian) and had an ice cream cake from Cold Stone Creamery.
For her birthday, Kaylee got a portable "boom box" (do they call them that anymore?) for her ipod so she can take it outside, lots of clothes, a nintendo ds game called "babies" (imagine that!), jewelry and a jewelry box, and new roller skates from us. From Beth and Ken she awoke the morning of her bday with flowers (Ken brings Beth flowers everyday, people, everyday...take note, you men out there!), a gift card and balloon on the front porch! And she got a whole mess of gifts at the skating rink.
On top of all that, her friend Samantha and her family invited Kaylee to Ft. Myers Beach, Florida for a wedding of one of our neighbors/friends. They left on Wednesday at noon and won't be back until this Monday. This is the longest time I have gone without seeing her, EVER. I am doing ok with it, but seeing the picture above, her toasting a drink to us (LOL), makes me miss her more, and even MORE jealous! She is getting big I tell you.

Proud is the understatement! The only thing that worries me is that you put your kid on this pedastal and when they come crashing down, as we all do, it's going to hurt all the more!
